About

The project builds a conversation about the future of architecture through its material traces - drawings, sketches, photographs. The focus is on the graphics of Sergey Choban. Architectural thought is rarely visible to the viewer - we usually encounter a finished building. Here, the path to the result is shown. The basis of the exhibition is 43 graphic sheets by Sergey Choban, transferred to the museum in 2024. Charcoal, pastel, ink, pencil - different tools capture the state of search, doubt, clarification, the moment of crystallization of the idea. Each drawing enters into a dialogue with the photograph. Such a montage allows for a comparison between the initial image and its embodiment, to see where the author's impulse remained unchanged and where it transformed under the influence of the environment and constructive solutions. For the project, Andrey Belimov-Gushchin shot a series of works dedicated to Moscow and Leningrad modernism. These photographs expand the boundaries of the conversation and return to post-war architecture as an important source of formal language. If you don't know where to walk in Moscow, visit KUDAGO.
