The project is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first publication of "The Black Man" by Sergei Yesenin, in which the lyrical hero confronts his dark reflection. This tense dialogue is viewed as a philosophical statement about the boundaries of personality, the nature of inspiration, and painful self-analysis. The first section is devoted to the circumstances of the poem's creation and its early publications. Here, documents and materials are collected that allow tracing the path of the text from manuscript to print. In the second part, attention is focused on the mythopoetics of the work - the system of images, symbols, and echoes with other literary sources. The curators invite viewers to look at the text in a broad cultural context and see hidden meanings. The third section tells about the reactions of contemporaries.
