The project traces the fate of "Alice in Wonderland" in Russian culture and art. The exhibition brings together books, photographs, and visual interpretations from the 20th and 21st centuries. The exhibition is timed to the 160th anniversary of the publication of the book about Alice's adventures in Wonderland and continues a series of projects dedicated to the "game of hero" and transformations of literary characters. The focus is on the history of perception and interpretation of the famous fairy tale in Russia, as well as the complexities of its translation, as language is a full participant in the narrative. The exhibition reveals different facets of the text-from a children's fairy tale to a powerful work that influenced the philosophy, science, and culture of the 20th century. A whole section is dedicated to the figure of Lewis Carroll-a writer, mathematician, traveler, and one of the early masters of artistic photography. Rare photographs of the author himself and the famous portrait of Alice Liddell, who served as the prototype for the heroine, are presented here.
