The exhibition addresses the events of December 1825 and the subsequent interregnum and investigations. Through authentic documents and artworks, it offers a chronological and thematic view of one of the key episodes in Russian history. The exhibition features over a hundred works of painting, graphics, sculpture, applied arts, as well as manuscripts and archival documents. The central focus is on the day of December 14, 1825, but equal attention is given to the preceding interregnum and the subsequent investigative actions. Among the exhibits are autographs, portraits, and personal belongings of the participants in the events, images of Senate Square, watercolor views of the rooms of Nicholas I, uniforms of various military units. A separate section is dedicated to the documents of the investigative commission: records of interrogations, official journals, decrees, and manifestos that help recreate the atmosphere of that time. Of particular interest are rare images made during the investigation and materials related to the fates of the case's figures. The project is based on materials from the largest museum and archival collections and is structured as a coherent narrative - from the political climate of the early 1820s to the results of the investigation. An addition to the exhibition is a quest that helps visitors trace the events of the day and familiarize themselves with the spaces directly or indirectly related to them. The exhibition invites viewers to consider history through material testimonies of memory: items that accompanied people during pivotal moments in their lives and objects created after the events - in exile or imprisonment. These relics complete the narrative, shifting it from the plane of chronicle to the space of personal biographies. This approach allows us to see how major historical processes reflect in private destinies and how documents, images, and objects together shape the understanding of time.
