About

Valentina Tolkunova is a symbol of soulfulness and tenderness on the Soviet stage. The artist was called the "singer of the Russian soul," and her songs became true classics. The compositions "Talk to Me, Mom," "I Stand at the Halfway Station," "I Can't Do Otherwise" have been heard for decades on the air, on stage, in television shows, and have become part of the cultural code of the country. Valentina Tolkunova's repertoire is unique: more than 190 composers and 230 poets wrote for her. During the conversation, fragments of songs, memories, and rare facts about the life and work of the singer will be shared. Special attention will be given to her contribution to children's culture: millions of people first heard her voice in the lullaby "The Tired Toys Are Sleeping" or in the mother's song from the animated film "Winter in Prostokvashino." We share on our website where to go with children in St. Petersburg.
