About

What can an ancient Chinese treatise tell us about harmony in the modern world? In this slow reading session, participants will explore the philosophical roots of conscious living through the analysis of Daoist concepts of yin and yang and feel the power of Eastern thought. "Huangdi Neijing" is one of the oldest philosophical texts in human history. It is believed that the author of this treatise was the mythical Yellow Emperor - the founder of Chinese medicine, who laid the foundations of Daoist philosophy. His text, preserved to this day, is a system of views on the structure of the world and the place of man within it. During the meeting, participants will be invited to read fragments of the treatise slowly and thoughtfully in the translation by Bronislav Vinogradsky. Special attention will be given to key concepts such as yin and yang, resonance (xiang yin), rhythm, and harmony - principles that underlie Chinese natural philosophy. The discussion will be led by Philipp Mokhov - a specialist in the humanities. Together with him, participants will discuss how ancient philosophy can be applicable to everyday life, helps to understand processes within oneself and in society, and how it influences the quality of life. Entertainment in Moscow is gathered on our website.
