About

Imagine you are standing in the center of the Russian club "Inostranky" among foreigners learning Russian, and suddenly you understand a phrase in Serbian or Belarusian - without a dictionary. Here, they will analyze Cyrillic through the eyes and ears of those for whom it is new and show how Slavic languages intertwine into one family. You will hear unusual facts about the alphabet: how reforms in the 18th-20th centuries changed the letters, and what remains of ancient Slavic writing. Then you will listen to short conversations in Russian, Serbian, Belarusian, Slovak, and others - and you will guess what the conversation is about, noticing familiar words and sounds. Club members and foreigners with a level of 2A+ and above, interested in Russian culture, will share their observations right on the spot. At the end, there will be a quiz where you can check how well you understood these connections. Admission is free, but registration is required. Details on the website of the Library of Foreign Literature.
