A project for those who want to reflect on philosophical texts through live dialogue. Readers discuss complex ideas of Michel Foucault in the company of like-minded individuals and philosophers, share thoughts, seek connections, and form their own views. Each meeting is a journey into a world of deep meanings and discoveries. "Izba-Chitalnya" is a new intellectual project of RGBM and the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, combining live discussions and meaningful reading of classical texts. It is not just a club of interest, but a full-fledged platform for deep immersion in political-philosophical ideas. This time, participants will turn to the legacy of Michel Foucault - a key figure in modern humanitarian knowledge. The discussion will feature thoughts on power, knowledge, and the role of the intellectual. The focus will be on Foucault's conversation with Gilles Deleuze "Intellectuals and Power" (1972), the interview "The Political Function of the Intellectual" (1976), and "Power and Knowledge" (1977). The uniqueness of the format is that participants choose each topic themselves: from the 1st to the 15th of each month, voting takes place for the work to be discussed. This makes participation lively, democratic, and very personal - the discussion is built not on the position of "the expert speaks", but on an open exchange of opinions. The meeting is conducted by research staff from the sector of the history of political philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences. They will help to better understand the texts, offer interpretations, and set directions for reflection.
