It seems we know everything about Victorian salons, social rituals, and the struggle between reason and feelings. But once you open the first page of a Jane Austen novel, familiar patterns are reconsidered, and the motivations of the characters take on new meanings. This is the context in which the meeting of the "Literary" club will take place. The focus of the discussion will be the irony, sharpness, and subtle observation with which the author analyzes social stereotypes, gender inequality, and the absurdity of marriage laws. Participants will be invited to rethink not only the examples of heroic women like Elizabeth Bennet, Elinor Dashwood, or Anne Elliot but also to discuss their companions.
