Igor Stravinsky's ballets "Petrushka" and "The Firebird" - the first collaboration between MAMT and the Obraztsov Puppet Theatre. "Petrushka" and "The Firebird", created for the "Russian Seasons", became a triumph for all their authors and caused a sensation in Paris. More than a century later, the vision of these two ballets was presented on the MAMT stage by director Alexey Frandetti, choreographers Konstantin Semyonov and Kirill Radev. One of the unexpected decisions of the new production was the puppets that embodied the fairy-tale characters. In his interpretation, Alexey Frandetti touches on the theme of the confrontation between the individual and society. "Petrushka" with Semyonov's choreography remained close to the original libretto by Stravinsky and Alexander Benois, but its plot is reinterpreted. The action of "The Firebird" has been moved to the present day, for this ballet a new libretto was written, and each character has its own unique choreographic language.
