Two ballets to the music of Ravel transform familiar scores into a space of memory, light, and movement. Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui works with "Pictures at an Exhibition," while Jeroen Verbruggen works with "My Mother Goose." The music of Maurice Ravel became the foundation for two different choreographic worlds. In the first performance, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui refers to the orchestral version of "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Modest Mussorgsky. The choreographer follows the changes in musical imagery and constructs the stage space from movement, costumes, and a constantly changing perspective. Cherkaoui connects different dance traditions and works freely on the border between academic and contemporary choreography. The second part of the program is created by Jeroen Verbruggen to the music of the suite "My Mother Goose." The choreographer mixes the real and the fantastic, irony and mysticism, classical foundations and sharp modern intonations.
