A film-ballet about six short encounters transforms the stage into a kaleidoscope of duets, where each movement resembles a line in an open conversation. Composers and choreographers experiment with rhythm and intonations of feelings, while the creators' comments help to see behind the striking form the living stories and confessions. The ballet, created by several authors, turns into a laboratory of feelings, where each scene resembles a blind date. Six duets appear on screen, and each pair experiences its own episode-from awkward jokes to almost silent farewells. The short numbers line up: the audience has time to notice gestures, pauses, and moments when partners seem to hide in movement what they would not dare to voice. The project is the result of the 'write a ballet' laboratory launched by the Ural Opera Ballet in collaboration with the Union of Composers of Russia. Six composers and choreographers, as well as a lighting designer, were selected in a large competition and entrusted with one common world, literally assembled in parts. For some, this is the first experience working with choreography, for others-a rare chance to test how their ideas will sound on screen. The music of Claude Debussy and contemporary composers collides, intertwines, and emphasizes the change of moods, creating a sense of continuous movement. The dancers of the Ural Ballet troupe convey the characters of the heroes without words: some act with sharp lines, some gently dissolve into their partner, and some push away attempts at closeness. There are no familiar fairy-tale plots here, but many recognizable situations from urban life. The important moments are not the decorations, but the times when the heroes remain on stage face to face and decide whether to take a step towards each other. Light, costumes, and plasticity create the effect of a series about feelings, filmed in the language of choreography. After the screening, the audience will have a conversation with the artistic director of Ural Ballet, Maxim Petrov, and music critic Bogdan Korolek.
