About

Director Danil Chashin, following Leo Tolstoy, poses the question of why family relationships die. In his play, Danil Chashin explores the demise of the family relationships of Fyodor and Liza Protasov - characters from Leo Tolstoy's play "The Living Corpse." And the corpse here symbolizes the dying family ties between the spouses. Additionally, the director introduced another line of relationships that is not present in the play - between the writer himself and his wife Sofia. They lived together for almost half a century, had 13 children, but at the end of his life, Lev Nikolaevich left the family, and Sofia Andreevna painfully experienced his departure and attempted suicide twice. The creators of the play sought to understand how relationships thin out, how connections break down, and why it is so difficult to notice this "corpse" in time, bury it, and save the marriage. You can find more plays on our website in the theater section.
