"Barhopping," dedicated to Sergei Dovlatov, by the Golden Mask laureate Semyon Alexandrovsky. One of the leaders of contemporary theater, Semyon Alexandrovsky offers an unexpected way to immerse oneself in the work of Sergei Dovlatov. Twenty-five spectators, accompanied by the detainee and a sergeant, will embark on a tour of the bars on Rubinstein Street, while conducting an investigative experiment on the creative biography of the writer. Whether the expedition will be successful, and whether all participants will reach the finale, will only be revealed at Dovlatov's house. The St. Petersburg Theater Journal dubbed the genre of the production as "a criminal investigation, burdened with amateur literary criticism and everyday psychoanalysis." Artist Valentin Kuznetsov, in Soviet police uniform, acts as the guide and narrator, reciting the text of contemporary playwright Vyacheslav Durnenkov. The monologue includes interviews with Sergei Dovlatov, testimonies from his friends and like-minded individuals. Excerpts from the books and poems of his contemporaries, in the mouth of the investigator, turn into testimonies and denunciations. Together with the sergeant, the audience will analyze seven episodes from the writer's life - from his youth to his emigration. The investigation takes place along the route from bar to bar (a total of five), and the more bars that are passed, the closer and clearer the detainee becomes.
