The play about the absence of love - this is how Ulanbek Bayaliyev's production based on the play by Benedict Yerofeyev can be characterized. Yerofeyev is an example of absolute loneliness, a pariah. Feeling his uselessness, he made it the foundation of his life philosophy. His whole life he engaged in hard work: he worked as a guard, a loader, and a handyman, laying cables. But he never went to publishing houses with his works and never asked for publication. He wrote as he lived; it was his vital need. The play "Walpurgis Night, or The Steps of the Commander" came to life after Yerofeyev spent time in a psychiatric hospital and is dedicated to the unwanted outcasts of society. It is a cry that every person needs love - the love of space and other people. And what will happen without it - this is exactly what the work is about.
