Born Erich Paul Remark, he changed his middle name to "Maria" in honor of his mother after her death. This author is known for his novels, the events of which unfold during World War I and II. The novel "Three Comrades" is a continuation of his cycle of works dedicated to the theme of the "lost generation." The three-hour play tells the whole truth not only about fascism but also about love. The director emphasizes not on explicit intimate scenes but reveals the spiritual qualities of a person and that love which is stronger than death. Moreover, Volchek makes it clear that the anti-fascist theme should be present on the theatrical stage today. Love, as the brightest, most precious, most real thing a person has, becomes the leitmotif of the play. Galina Volchek, as the last true theatrical romantic, reveals the idea of a feeling that is not subject to space and time. The plot of the play, like that of the novel, tells about three comrades-in-arms who, after the war, started a business in their own auto repair shop. The war is over only in the material world, but in the souls of the heroes, it continues to live, condemning them to suffering. The hero Robert meets the girl Patricia, and love ignites between them. It seems that nothing can stop the lovers on their way to happiness, but there is an obstacle they cannot overcome.
