One of the most sought-after plays in world drama, written by Chekhov specifically for the Moscow Art Theatre, was directed by Konstantin Bogomolov. The desire to add "Three Sisters" to the repertoire of the Moscow Art Theatre was expressed by Oleg Pavlovich Tabakov. Work on the play began in the fall of 2017. It was expected that the master would lead the production team and would himself play the role of Doctor Chebutykin. Unfortunately, fate had other plans, but the play still came to life. According to Konstantin Bogomolov, his production is quite classical. The characters are young people, their age corresponds to what Chekhov indicated. They are played by young actors of the theatre. Apparently, especially for those who expect something provocative from each of Bogomolov's performances, he immediately warned: he does not intend to turn the play into a show. The director considers his task to infuse the wonderful play with the energy of modern life, and he describes his attitude towards the author as careful and even touching. The performance will be complemented by one of Chekhov's stories. Everything turned out exactly as the director said: the text remained unchanged. However, the meanings changed. Here everything is concrete, with no symbolism or philosophizing. Bogomolov staged a comedy - as Chekhov actually wanted, who was astonished by the weeping of the actors during rehearsals. Apparently, Chekhov, who created "Three Sisters", was no longer the Antoshka Chekhonte who wrote kind stories.
