A gambling and ironic play based on the story by Kuprin from the older generation of MХТ actors. Alexander Kuprin's biography resembles an adventure novel. Where hasn't he been, what professions hasn't he mastered? The theater played a special role in the writer's fate. Kuprin worked as a prompter, moonlighted as an actor "on exits", and Chekhov even advised him to enroll in the Moscow Art Theatre. All of this is reflected in his literary works, one of which - the story "In Retirement" - became the plot basis for Kirill Vytoptov's play. The heroes of the play are retired actors spending their days in a nursing home, creating a theater around them every day, without which they simply cannot live.
