A tense conflict arises between the characters of the play - the arrogant aristocrat Blanche, her sister Stella, and Stella's husband, the worker Stanley. Their relationship becomes like a tightly closed vessel placed over a fire: an explosion is inevitable. The main character Blanche, having lost her entire fortune, arrives at her sister's home in New Orleans. The sister lives in a working-class neighborhood with her husband - the brutish Stanley, whom she is madly in love with. Blanche, having lost her reputation, income, and beloved, is now most attracted to alcohol. Stanley and Blanche immediately begin to feel mutual dislike, which grows into hatred. Stanley learns that Blanche and one of his friends have feelings for each other. He then does everything possible to completely turn her life into ruins... The play evokes strong emotions.
