The troupe of "Workshop" has set itself an intriguing task - not to follow the plot, but to find the laughter and foolishness that Bulgakov wrote about. Their mystification is based on the personality of Mikhail Bulgakov himself, who wrote a grandiose prank, by Pyotr Fomenko and actor Kirill Pirogov (co-author of the production). The title of the play is merely a figure of speech by the satirical writer. The main character Maksudov, according to Fomenko, will not die. The theater buries him as a playwright, this happens, but the hero remains alive. The point is that Maksudov cannot withstand the confrontation with another world, with the world of this damned theater, where everything is subject to a completely incomprehensible logic, if the word "logic" is even applicable here. But it is here, in this incredible establishment - the Independent Theater, which killed his play - that Maksudov will come up with the idea for a new work, a book about the Master and Margarita.. The playwright who wrote the play "Black Snow" perishes, and from the ashes rises the creator of the great novel. The director of the play knows the theater from the inside, as few do. The perspective of a naive playwright is needed to show the entire convoluted backstage life. A particular interest is raised by the fact that with his satire, Bulgakov aimed at the famous MKhAT. Of course, a parody of the great Stanislavsky and the founding fathers of the Art Theater could seem like an enticing prospect, but the producers in their play talk about theater in general.
