A play based on Somerset Maugham's novel about the power of art, love, and beauty. Maugham wrote his novel in 1937. The story of actress Julia Lambert and handsome Michael Gosselin has been adapted to film multiple times. For her play, director Olga Subbotina chose a dynamic, montage form of storytelling. Otherwise, the most interesting events and characters of the novel simply wouldn't make it to the stage. Nevertheless, it is, of course, impossible to fit the entire novel into the production. Therefore, the director focused on the main theme: the people of the theater, their love for art, and a life that simply cannot exist without theater. You can find even more plays on our website in the theater section.
