Polyphony and multilayeredness in the production by Evgeny Kamenkovich based on the novel by Mikhail Shishkin. Here, there is room for representatives of different cultures and social niches: both refugees from Chechnya and tourists on the streets of Rome, heroes of medieval epics and school teachers. All this is seasoned with linguistic parallels, symbols, metaphors, and allusions. Everything is intertwined: reality and illusion, past and present, and the heroes become only their own stories. From all these scattered fragments, the director assembles a very multilayered and complex structure - characters from the textual dimension find themselves on the theatrical stage.
