A documentary production about the outstanding artist Leopold Surazhitsky, without whom there would be neither the Stanislavsky system nor the Vakhtangov Theatre, nor the audacious directorial genius of Vakhtangov himself. Surazhitsky was an artist, director, and public figure who was a monumental figure in Russian art at the beginning of the 20th century. An ideological inspirer and associate of Stanislavsky, he led the 1st Studio of the Moscow Art Theatre and actively assisted Stanislavsky in training actors. Eugene Vakhtangov, who would become a brilliant director, was a student of Surazhitsky, who had a profound influence on him, helping to shape his personality and unique style. Many actors, both from the Vakhtangov and Moscow Art Theatre, considered Surazhitsky their teacher.
