Folk mysticism with elements of horror and relevant teenage issues from the Independent Project of Ruslan Katsagadzhiyev. The basis of the production is the story "Mermaid" by Orest Somov, published in 1829 - one of the first Russian authorial fairy tales. The writer, considered a predecessor of Gogol, based his work on East Slavic myths and infused it with philosophical meaning. The play is created at the intersection of East Slavic folklore traditions, actor's plasticity, and modern drama. It resulted in an exciting folk-horror for family attendance, rich in songs and live music. The spectacular form combines with timeless content, addressing questions relevant to any teenager: first love, relationships with adults, the desire to escape into an imagined, fantastical world.
