The dramatic poem by Sergei Yesenin about the Russian rebellion was staged by Fyodor Malyshev. On stage, the fierce frenzy, sad daring, and tender hooliganism, which are inseparably present in Yesenin's poetry, come to life. It is animated by rhythms, rhymes, and pauses. The performance harmoniously coexists with Cossack songs, poems by Yegor Letov and Alexander Bashlachev. Words, objects, and rhythms enter into a common play and transform into a semi-fantastic tale about Pugachev, led by a wandering beggar by the campfire.
