Directed by Oleg Dmitriev, this is a gloomy and somewhat ironic embodiment of Henrik Ibsen's play about yet another unhappy family. The family nest in Ibsen's view is by no means a cozy hearth, but rather a concentration of deceit and falsehood, a cage that confines the individual. However, while Nora manages to escape from the "Doll's House", the main character of "Ghosts", Mrs. Alving, is much less fortunate. She finds herself trapped in a world full of ghosts from the past and becomes a living ghost herself. The imposed life that the woman tries to believe in is, in reality, merely a gloomy existence. The set design of the play resembles a trap for souls: doors, mirrors placed opposite each other, reflections of reflections, and false exits... The external atmosphere echoes the psychology of the play and allows for a deeper exploration of the characters and their drama with a rather hopeless ending.
