The play based on the stories of Maxim Gorky was directed by Pavel Parkhomenko. The cycle "On Russia" consists of twenty-nine stories written by Gorky from 1912 to 1917 during his travels across Russia. In these works, the writer presents a whole panorama of characters and plots, everyday life and geography, which allow one to understand and feel the atmosphere of that time. The play on the stage of the Vakhtangov Theatre was directed by Pavel Valeryevich Parkhomenko, a young director from the Mossovet Theatre.
