The production on the stage of the Vladimir Mayakovsky Theater is dedicated to the outstanding director who passed away in 2012. The play by L. N. Tolstoy was directed by the theater's artistic director Mindaugas Karbauskis. This play was staged at Mayakovka over 30 years ago by Pyotr Fomenko himself. The performance ran with full houses for more than a decade. According to the director of the new version, Mindaugas Karbauskis, his play is not a reconstruction, but some quotes from Fomenko's masterpiece may be heard in it. The production has become one of the most "populated", featuring actors of all generations, many of whom also performed with Fomenko. For example, Mikhail Filippov will play the role of Krugosvetlov, Galina Anisimova will portray the Tolstoyan lady, and Igor Kostolevsky, who played the role of Vasily Zvezdintsev with Fomenko, will take on the role of his father, Leonid Fyodorovich. The premiere will also feature newcomers, five graduates from GITIS who joined Mayakovka at the beginning of the season. Mindaugas Karbauskis is confident that he will continue to work with Tolstoy's works. He will stage a play by Lithuanian playwright M. Ivaškėvičius based on the biography of the great writer, created specifically for Mayakovka. Scenography by Sergey Barkhin, costumes by Natalia Voinova, music by Giedrius Puskūnigis.
