Alexander Oleshko as one of the most controversial rulers of Russia. The play by Natalia Kovalova is based on a rarely staged work by Dmitry Merezhkovsky. Alexander Oleshko plays the role of Pavel the First. Pavel is the son of Catherine the Second, who did not allow her son to ascend to the throne and sought to make her grandson Alexander her heir. However, with the death of Catherine, Pavel decisively comes to power - the ruler of the "toy state" in Gatchina, which was mocked by almost the entire Petersburg court. Such behavior was unexpected from him, as were many of the changes he managed to implement in the country - both positively and otherwise. See more plays on our website in the theatre section.
