The Youth Theatre is addressing the works of Platonov for the first time. In his work, Andrei Platonov sought to comprehend the most difficult time for the country during the 1920s-1940s. "The Ivanov Family" is a screenplay written in 1945, and a year later it was adapted into a short story. In 1962, the final version of the work was published, titled "The Return." This is a story about a family on the brink of collapse during the war. The war destroyed everything, including relationships. Is it possible to find the strength somewhere to continue living, overcome disagreements, and build a future? And are we right to think that happiness lies somewhere off the beaten path, and that to attain it, we must "start life with a clean slate"?
