The plot of "Dangerous Liaisons" is based on the French bestseller of the 18th century by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. In this sensational novel for its time, the author vividly, openly, and humorously describes the life of high society, which mainly revolves around intrigues and adultery. Based on Laclos' novel, the Englishman Christopher Hampton wrote a play, which was directed by Pavel Khomsky. Cruel games with innocent souls are orchestrated by the Vicomte de Valmont and the Marquise de Merteuil. In a wager with the Marquise, Valmont takes on the challenge of seducing the young Cécile, a convent-educated girl from a noble family, and then his gaze turns to the deeply religious young woman, the devoted wife of Madame de Tourvel. However, the villainous schemes will come to ruin, and the guilty will be punished. A magnificent cast of actors presents this purely French story elegantly, gracefully, and psychologically accurately. The production was carried out by Pavel Khomsky, who knows how to convey classic plots in a modern language while preserving the spirit of the original. The set designer is the widely known theatrical and film artist Boris Blank. Fifty intricate costumes, in the spirit of the era, were created by Victoria Sevryukova.
