About

The musical performance connects the music of Dmitri Shostakovich, puppet theater, and the memory of besieged Leningrad. On stage, the ensemble "VivaMuse" will meet the puppets from the frontline production of Evgeny Demmeni's "Young Fritz." The musical performance addresses one of the difficult pages in the city's history - the siege of Leningrad. At the center of the production is the memory of the people who endured the war and the art that helped maintain an inner support during the years of trials. The format combines music, puppet theater, and documentary memory, transforming historical material into a living stage statement. The musical part will be performed by the ensemble of artists from the Symphony Orchestra of the Capella "VivaMuse." The program will include works by Dmitri Shostakovich. The theatrical line will consist of puppets from the legendary frontline production of Evgeny Demmeni's "Young Fritz." During the war, this performance was shown to soldiers at the front more than 600 times. The project gains special depth from its connection to the Demmeni Puppet Theater. It was in its space that the first performance took place, and the building itself is linked to the musical history of St. Petersburg: it once housed the hall of the Society of Lovers of Chamber Music, where Shostakovich made his debut. This intertwining of times turns the performance into a conversation about memory, resilience, and cultural continuity. The current program of St. Petersburg is presented on KUDAGO.
