The play is based on the postmodern poem by Viktor Erofeev, first published abroad in 1973 and becoming one of the symbols of Russian literature in the 20th century. In 2026, the artistic director of the "Cynics" Theater, Andrey Dontsov, adapted the poem and staged the play. According to him, "Moscow-Petushki" is his favorite book, which has been with him his whole life. Moreover, it is a great and always relevant book, which means it must be heard. The result is an experimental play, quite substantial and rich in meanings.
