Director Vladimir Ivanov presents a stage version of the poem by Nikolai Gogol. Gogol's poem, although not written for the theatre, is very theatrical by nature. The story of Chichikov, traveling across the expanses of Russia, can often be seen on stage, and the number of interpretations of this story is inexhaustible. On the stage of the Vakhtangov Theatre, the experienced director Vladimir Ivanov presents the stage version of Gogol's work. Among his works are the ever-popular "Mademoiselle Nitouche" and "Matryona's Place" based on Solzhenitsyn. In the former, the director's comedic talent is vividly displayed, while in the latter, his mastery of psychoanalysis shines through. In staging "Dead Souls," he undoubtedly needed both.
