Based on the stories of Anton Chekhov, director Alexey Kiryushenko created a play of comedic sketches that reveal the humorous talent of the playwright. "Little Comedies" consists of two novellas inspired by Chekhov's works. A multitude of contrasting characters will be brought to life on stage by just three actors: Sergey Shakurov, Maria Aronova, and Mikhail Policeymako. The first part of the performance is the play "The Bear." Before the audience unfolds the story of a young widow, mired in grief for her deceased husband. Soon, a creditor-a rude landowner and a seasoned duelist-appears at her doorstep. The verbal sparring quickly escalates, and the hero declares that he intends to duel with the lady of the house herself. "The Proposal" is a plot that delves into the complicated relationships between neighbors. Landowner Lomov is shy and desperately in love. The girl and her father are waiting for him to propose, but a heartfelt conversation that begins over a trivial dispute turns into a real scandal.
