The basis of the production is the work of Fyodor Dostoevsky "The Gambler". Director Valery Fokin has turned to one of the most relevant plots of the classic of Russian literature. It is known that Dostoevsky himself embodied the image of a "roulette player", emptying his pockets and filling his world and those around him with unbearable suffering. The modern title of the production "Liturgy Zero", as explained by Valery Fokin himself, is a worship of zero, of nothingness, so characteristic of the current age of "consumer culture". But, as the ancients said, nature abhors a vacuum. Filling life with the values of gambling, empty pastimes leads to the degradation of the soul, the loss of moral values, and the destruction of personality.
