The history of productions based on Ostrovsky at the Mayakovsky stage began with the play "The Profitable Place," which premiered in 1923. A hundred years later, the comedy "Forest" was staged here, uniting recent students and masters. The play about the sale of forest, love, and calculation was directed by Yegor Peregudov. The set design and costumes were created by Vladimir Arefyev. Among the performers in the leading roles are the renowned Anna Ardova, Vyacheslav Kovalyov, and Daria Poverennova.
