Director Yuri Pechenzhitsky made his debut at "Praktika" with a documentary drama based on a play by Alexei Zhitkovsky. Under the "Blue Light," the country welcomes the new year 1963, recounts successes, and laughs at caricatures. A month has passed since Nikita Khrushchev harshly commented on the exhibition "New Reality" he attended, which was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of MOSH - the Moscow Union of Artists. His review became a verdict for the avant-gardists and accelerated the end of the "thaw." The play incorporates articles from Soviet newspapers and magazines, a transcript from the exhibition, memories of contemporaries, and episodes from the "Blue Light."
