Director Artyom Terёkhin and playwright Svetlana Bazhenova have reinterpreted the story by Robert Ballantyne. The heroes of the story are English teenagers who suffer a disaster at sea and find themselves on a deserted island. This youth book, written in 1857, was immensely popular and resonated powerfully far beyond its "target audience." The story inspired Jules Verne to create the novel "Two Years' Vacation," Stevenson to write "Treasure Island," and a hundred years later, Golding wrote his "Lord of the Flies" as a polemical response to Ballantyne. The authors of the play aimed to develop each character in detail, as each one is illuminated up close here. Following Golding's path, the directors transformed the adventures into philosophical reflections on the most important things: the laws of morality and their absence, friendship, love, loyalty, home, life, and death.
