The production center "ContArt" with the support of the "Puppet Format" Theater presents a play based on the book by Sergey Golyshev "My Son is a Down Syndrome Child." In the family of artist Sergey Golyshev, a challenging child named Kola grew up. Sergey closely observed his son and recorded his words. Little Kola often talked about a girl named Varya, his best friend from kindergarten. But the thing is, there was no such girl in the kindergarten - Kola invented her. He created stories and poems, and his father, discovering his son's talent, began to record him with particular care. Soon, there was enough material for a whole book (which was recently published), and then Sergey decided to try his hand at prose, writing a story about his son, the nuances of raising a special child, and how much his talented Kola changed his life. This book was read by director Yana Tumina, who decided to use both Sergey’s book and Kola’s poem about the girl Varya as the basis for her play. The journey to Varya by train became a metaphor, a dream of a magical planet where everyone feels good, where everyone understands and supports each other, where everything comes easily, and where only friends live. In her play, Yana Tumina combines puppets, actors, music, and visual theater, where emotionality is expressed through tricks, engineering, and imagery.
