The character of the novel "The Twelve Chairs" is not quite as we know him, as his biography was cut out by Soviet censorship. To restore justice and tell the true story of Kisa Vorobyaninov, director Semyon Serzin took on the challenge. Kisa Vorobyaninov, as known from the novel, is a former nobleman who has fallen from grace and is hiding in a tiny town with his mother-in-law. He learned about diamonds and set out to find them together with Ostap Bender. Essentially, that’s all. But the authors of the novel had a different vision for Kisa. His true character and adventures were not allowed by censorship, as the seemingly respectable Kisa was a wastrel and bon vivant even more than Bender. And the diamonds were his only chance to return to a reckless life. Director Semyon Serzin, who staged "The Death of Tarelkin" on this stage, tells the theater audience about the real Kisa Vorobyaninov - uncensored.
