Gleb is going to meet a scientist and prove to him that there are worthy minds even in the countryside. The peaceful and agreeable Venya has finally decided to argue with his wife and mother-in-law. Andrey has lost money and doesn't know how to tell his family about it. Sergey is trying to choose between half a moped and his wife's smile. And only the old man Afanasy doesn't care about others. He writes letters to the district committee asking to name the alley where he lives after himself - Afanasy Deryabin. The everyday life in Shukshin's works is always filled with philosophical meaning and reflections on eternal themes of human existence. Going through various situations, often absurd and funny, his characters ultimately realize: it is not things and money that make a person happy, but love, kindness, and justice.
