In honor of the 130th anniversary of Mikhail Bulgakov, director Semyon Spivak invites you to reflect on the fate of an outstanding individual, on the freedom of creativity, and on the responsibility of the creator and society to one another. The play "The Cabal of the Saints," written in 1929, had a long and difficult path to the stage. The first Moscow production took place only in 1936, and after seven performances, the play was removed. At the center of the work is the relationship between Louis XIV and Molière. This is the height of the playwright's career; he enjoys the king's favor, but there are also those who are eager to destroy his personal and creative life. The main character appears both as a star of his time and as a talent ruined by power, and as a weary old man betrayed by those closest to him.
