Bulgarian director Yavor Gyrdev presents a thriller based on Anthony Shaffer's play. The play was adapted for the stage by playwright Mikhail Durnenkov. He moved the action to the present day and slightly altered the characters' biographies. The play, known from the Hollywood films "Sleuth" (1972) and "The Detective" (2007), will still appear completely unexpected. The director compares it to a virtual strategy game: the characters think they are heading towards a goal, but time and again find themselves at a new level of delusion, missing the moment when the game transitions into reality. In Moscow, Gyrdev made his debut in 2004 with the play "The Pillowman," which turned the understanding of convention upside down. The audience was an arm's length away from the actors, separated by a transparent wall. It was impossible to predict a single plot twist, and everyone was completely convinced that what was happening on stage was not a theatrical illusion, but a reality show.
