About

The debut production by Klim Kozinsky is a surrealist play based on the texts of Fyodor Dostoevsky and Gottfried Leibniz. "Idiotology" by director Klim Kozinsky is a play dedicated to the obsession with utopias and idealism, which, under certain conditions, can transform into idiocy. The dramaturgy of the play is based on Dostoevsky's "The Idiot" and the treatise "Monadology" written by the precursor of German classical philosophy, Gottfried Leibniz. Formally, Leibniz's writing is not present in the play-it is woven into its structure, like a musical theme or motif. The production resembles the intertwining of two complex patterns: over the main one, tied to the plot twists of the cult novel, a translucent thread of ideological views, philosophical nonsense, and reversals is woven. The dual nature of the play is also reflected in its visual image, created by artist Anastasia Nefyodova. The characters, dressed in deliberately theatrical, whimsical, and extravagant costumes, exist in a space of monochrome, stylized decorations reminiscent of René Magritte's paintings. They reflect the idea of the wanderings of the soul, which is so difficult to turn into a conscious journey. See more plays on our website in the theater section.
