About

Director Nikolai Cherkasov explores human nature in the play based on Griboedov's work and proves that classics can and should be interesting to the modern audience. Each of us has something of Chatsky in us - for example, a thirst for justice, faith in goodness, and the belief that sincere love cannot go unanswered. The main character of Alexander Griboedov's comedy returns to his native Moscow and, full of enthusiasm and love, bursts into the life of Sofia and the entire Famusov household. However, it turns out that Chatsky is not expected here, and he can no longer contain his frustration, expressing his views on Moscow society. The play was directed by Nikolai Cherkasov, a graduate of GITIS and a student of Boris Pokrovsky. The director invites us to reflect on human relationships and societal phenomena relevant to any era. Textbook phrases gain new life and new meanings, and everything happening on stage is inextricably linked to today.
