A modern opera-ballet by Efrem Podgaitz based on the fairy tale by H. C. Andersen. Everyone knows this beautiful fairy tale by Andersen, but not everyone knows that based on its plot, a children's opera "Thumbelina, or the Wonderful Flight" was created in 1997, with music by Efrem Podgaitz and librettists Roxana Sats and Viktor Ryabov. Thanks to modern music and dance, the fairy tale has been reborn. The audience will be transported to the wonderful land of the wizard Ole Lukoye, who will wave his magic wand over a flower, and the tiny heroine of the performance - Thumbelina - will appear. Emerging from her hiding place, she will find herself surrounded by selfish Frogs and vain May Beetles, and after being driven away by the latter, she will become the servant of a Mouse. The Mouse's neighbor, a blind Mole, will decide to take Thumbelina as his wife, but the heroine will manage to escape. With the arrival of spring, a Swallow, whom she saved from the cold in winter, will come to Thumbelina and carry her away to the amazing lands where the beautiful Prince lives. Director: Valery Merkulov. The production was awarded the First Prize and Grand Prix at the Children's Theater and Show Festival in Moscow in 2001.
