About

The play by Russian writer and playwright Alexander Amphiteatrov was directed by Elena Dmitrakova. The name of the prose writer, playwright, and feuilletonist Alexander Amphiteatrov is a rarity in the modern theater poster. The "Russian Enterprise" Theater remains true to itself, rediscovering the classics of Russian drama. Amphiteatrov authored eight plays, with "Two Hours in a Noble Family" being the penultimate, written in 1909 in France. Amphiteatrov illustrates the saying "a talented person is talented in everything." He graduated from the law faculty of Moscow University and also studied singing in Italy. Since the 1880s, he collaborated with satirical publications and, as an opera singer, joined the Mariinsky Theater. In 1899, he became one of the founders of the newspaper "Russia," which was soon banned, and Amphiteatrov was exiled to Minusinsk. After returning from exile, the writer emigrated to France, where he was a member of a Masonic lodge for three years. In 1916, Amphiteatrov returned to his homeland, working as a correspondent for "Russian Word" and other newspapers. In August 1921, he fled from Petrograd to Finland with his family, lived in Prague, and then in Italy. The writer passed away in 1938 at the age of 75.
