A production of Federico Garcia Lorca's play, created by Yuri Kordonsky, a student of Lev Dodin. The play has become one of the best in the history of MDT. The work of Federico Garcia Lorca intimidates many, especially novice directors, with its naturalism. When staging his plays, it is very easy to cross the line into banal darkness. The action of the drama takes place in a closed space of a stone sack, which serves as a refuge for a mad old woman, the mother of five young women, who suffer from unrequited passion and unfulfilled desires, a deliberately pious saint, and a maid, who is unwittingly drawn into the drama unfolding before her eyes. The mother, trying despotically to protect her small world from external influences after her husband's death and to control it totally, comes into conflict with her daughters, who have no way to sublimate their accumulated energy. A tomb-like house and a complete lack of exit, except for madness... The premiere of the play, translated from Spanish by I. Tynyanova and N. Naumov, took place in January 2006. The cast includes Natalia Fomenko, Maria Nikiforova, Angelika Nevolina, Natalia Kalinina, Ekaterina Kleopina, Natalia Sokolova, Ekaterina Reshetnikova, Ursula Malka, and Natalia Akimova.
