Expressionist interpretation of Leonid Andreyev's drama by director Arseny Meshcheryakov. In this play, despite the apparent realism, the feelings of the characters are pushed to the limit. The tragic story of two lovers, Olga and Nikolai, unfolds in a world where everything is exaggerated: love, fear, greed... The young director sought a theatrical language that would help reveal Andreyev's language, and he succeeded. The production became a hit at the School-Studio of the Moscow Art Theater, and at the "Praktika" stage, it is presented in an updated version. See more plays on our website in the theater section.
